I want to express my appreciation to the people that have already helped me thus far.

My wife Jeanette, she is with me 24 hours a day. She spends her days sacrificing herself to help me. I cannot be without her as she is my safety, comfort and carer. She is the only one that knows how to help me, through all the sleepless nights and rough days. I love you and Thank you for always putting me first.

My kids that help and assist with everything and anything possible. The sacrifices they make to help or just come visit. Sylvia, Louise and Deon, thank you for carrying this load with us. To my Grandsons that keep me smiling and laughing, you are both the best.

Innovations Projects (Jeanette’s employer)

To Ian & Vanessa Northing, Thank you for all the support you have offered and the patience and understanding you have shown. You have allowed Jeanette an abundance of time off to take me to doctors. Thank you for letting Jeanette work from home and if not that, you allow me to accompany her to the office. This has been a blessing in many ways.

Shower modification:

A few months ago, I had to have the shower taps replaced (mixer tap) and lowered for my hands to reach them.

Thank you Neil (Brother In-law) for all the arrangements and payment.

Thank you to Vanduco Company: Fred & Jamie did a great job.

This however is no longer suitable for me as it has become extremely strenuous to enter the shower. The bathroom needs to be totally modified in order for it to become disability friendly.

Drs Kotze, Fernandes & Partners - Brackenfell

Dr Harley is not familiar with MND, but she has gone the extra mile in researching and trying to offer me the best care possible. Thank you to the staff (Diane, Elize, and the Sister) who sat with me during a panic attack only shows total compassion. The practice also offers us discounted rates and is always willing to fit me in anytime.

Footgear Cape Gate

The shop offered me a very expensive pair of shoes at a discounted rate. We needed a shoe that is light weight to assist with my left foot that drags. The store was so helpful.

Government institutions:

Tygerberg Hospital: Thank you Roberta and Tamaryn that went over and beyond to assist me with a push wheelchair with a re-enforced back. They went as far as to take my measurements in the car park as I had no means to enter the hospital.

Kraaifontein Day hospital: Thank you Mrs Steyn who assists wherever she can and that assistance has been ongoing.

Ramps:

My son in law, Deon constructed 2 great ramps for me to have access to the front door and back of the house. The weekends you offered up to complete these is beyond appreciated. Thank you to Frikkie for the use of his welding machine that made it possible to keep the costs low.

There is a lot of appreciation for everyone that has in some way helped or even just spared me a thought.

This is a hard journey and there will many more Thank you's in the future.
