Fast Forward ....Diagnosis

August has approached and I have spent a lot of time in Government hospitals. It is so unpleasant. I have seen more than 43 doctors and not one knows why I am ill.

During this time I have lost my Job, my medical aid is gone, my policies and benefits are gone.

The company fired me which won me 4 months salary at the CCMA. What must I do with 4 months salary? Those 4 months salary only cover the 4 months of sitting at home waiting for a diagnoses.

After all these doctors and false diagnoses, I am referred to a Dr Henning in Tygerberg Hospital, who does a EMG shock test and EMG Needle Test. The needle test is so painful. They put a needle into your muscles, even your face. I am scheduled for a MRI as well, but the waiting list is months long as gunshot or stab wound victims get first option. My MRI never materializes cause my diagnoses is discovered.

Dr Henning enters my room and draws the battered old curtain. He barely looks up at me and says: You have MND.

The world goes quiet, time stands dead still. The shock that ripples through your body is unexplained. Your mind starts to race so fast. I think of how bad Joost v/d Westhuizen is and I cant imagine how I am going to get through this.

I don't want to die, I am too young...

They discharge me from hospital there is nothing anyone can do. No Cure, No treatment.

You get to go home and become a prisoner in your own body because of this disease...
